Birthdays: Tutorial Gift Box

Hello there all of you beautiful crafters. Today I am here to share a little tutorial with you. How many of you out there have teenagers? Or maybe people that only want money or gift cards as gifts? Well this is the one for you! A couple of years ago I decided to ditch the envelopes with cash and come up with a more creative solution. So here you have nesting gift boxes!

This project only took me about 20 minutes start to finish, almost the same amount of time I spend on cards! The supplies include 6×6 patterned paper, various embellishments, and these craft boxes from your local craft supply shop.

The first thing you want to do is measure the pieces for the top and sides of the boxes. I do this by lining the box up on the paper and tracing it.

step 2

Then you glue the pieces into place. Repeat this for all three boxes.

step 3

I thought it would be fun to place patterned paper in the bottom of the box too. You could even decorate all sides, inside and out, to really make it visually appealing. It’s up to you!

step 5

Now you get to embellish the gift holders. Keep in mind that if you want to do them nesting style, like mine, the embellishments have to allow for the boxes to fully close inside of one another. Embellish all three boxes however you please.

step 7

Here’s how the pieces look nestled inside. This is just too funny for a teen. They think there’s a gift and then, another box is there… then another… I would do even more if I could find smaller boxes.

step 8

I like to make each box look unique. You could write little notes from family members to fit in there or write on the tops and sides of them for even more personalized detail.

step 9

step 10

There you go! A unique gift box tutorial for the win. Now go make some teenagers’ day!
