Birthdays are one of my favorite events to scrapbook! I was so excited to play with the new Birthday Bash collection – the colors are divine! I knew I had photos of my son’s recent birthday in nice, bright colors that would be a perfect match!
From the get-go I knew I wanted to create a large number 5 as a feature on the layout. I think turning five is exciting – no longer a toddler, a real big kid and almost ready for school!
I cut a large ‘5’ from white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo and backed it with the gorgeous mint plaid design paper. I then took the time to hand stitch around the number for a really finished look.
I added my photo to the right side of the layout and used layers of patterned paper and die cuts to add dimension and interest. It is really fun to combine different types of embellishments such as rub ons, die cuts, and chipboard!
I love that the bold colors and softer colors work so well together. I also love that the large ‘5’ is a real feature but the focus is still on my photo.
I think that this could become a regular layout in my future scrapbooks – making a feature of the age my kids are turning! And I hope you’ll consider doing the same!
