Hey everyone, Raquel here today to share with you a fun marquee light tutorial perfect for your halloween vignette! I decorated my Witches Hat Heidi Swapp Marquee Light with mostly Pink Paislee supplies. In Australia, Halloween is not really a holiday in which the majority of the population celebrate. Though I must say in more recent years it has become increasingly popular and we do get a handful of trick-or-treaters in the area that we live. This also means that halloween related decor can be hard to find too. I found the perfect solution on my hunt to create a halloween vignette; create my own decor!
Here is my final and completed halloween vignette:
To decorate my Marquee light I used a black paper from the C’est La Vie collection – Paper 04 and the purple paper from the Take Me Away collection – Paper 15. From my stash I added some ribbon, purple seam binding, and plain vellum.
Watch the tutorial video below to see how fun, quick, and easy it is to decorate your own Marquee Light ready for Halloween:
Here is a close up of the bats which I cut out on my Silhouette Cameo using a bat image I found online. The vellum adds a nice soft touch to the dark decor, but also gives more of an illusion of dimension on the hat. I secured the vellum to the patterned paper bat with a line of stitching through the centre. I like the contrast of the white thread and the texture it adds.
I used American Crafts Sticky Thumb flat glue dots to secure the bats to the edge of the Marquee Light. The sticky dots have an amazing hold and allowed me to scatter them on top of each other to give an illusion of a colony of bats.
I added a bow which was made up of black and white ribbon and some purple seam binding that I had in my stash. It was a nice finishing touch to the light.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I hope you enjoyed the tutorial! Be sure to check back in for the remainder of Halloween week to see what the other Pink Paislee team members have created!
