I love paper. Period. End of discussion. I just love paper. This love affair has existed since I was that middle school girl walking to the mall and shopping the Paper by the Pound display at the stationary store. Stickers. Envelopes. Colored paper. To this day the obsession is strong.
So this week here at Pink Paislee the creative team is challenged with a Free for All assignment. While memory keeping is super important to me, I opted to just simply play with paper and everything that falls in that category.
What came of this creativity was a leaf die cut inspired wall art piece.
This is how it happened:
I had die cut a leaf (one of Ashley Horton’s designs) out of a piece of the Take Me Away paper. After the cut was made on my die cut machine, I mindlessly set the paper over another piece of pattern paper from that collection. And I was like…”that’s gorgeous! I need more of that”. And that is what inspired the die cut leaves on patterned paper layered over another piece of patterned paper.
I cut more of the die cut from the patterned paper to create this falling leaves scene. The background paper and the cut paper were mounted to foam core so I could hang it if I wanted.
Gathering Take Me Away embellishments, this clustered assortment came together pretty easy. Smile. Cease the day. Isn’t that what it’s about anyway.
So here’s to your own Free for All. I challenge you. Just play. Find something to inspire you and just play with paper and embellishment goodies. I know we have lots of stories to tell by way of memory keeping. But sometimes a creative exercise on a cool fall day is exactly what is needed.
