Hello friends! This week on the Pink Paislee blog we are giving thanks. I love this time of year when we can reflect on all that we are thankful for and for us memory keepers we can put those thoughts on paper and into our projects. It’s Gail here today to share with you a layout I created with a very thankful heart.
I have so much to be thankful for but being a Mum, first and foremost on my mind are my children! As I wrote in my journaling, most nights I lay in bed absolutely exhausted because they run me ragged! But I’m also just so thankful for them, their energy, and their quirks too!
Inspired by Paper 07 in the Take Me Away collection with the little squares of patterns, I wanted to create a patchwork-inspired heart on my layout. I decided to cut each of the squares and adhere them individually so I could distress the edges of each to create more definition. Rows of machine stitching finished it off perfectly!
I kept the rest of the layout quite simple as the feature was the patchwork heart. I added small photos of each of my children and my title. I am so in love with the new Thickers from the Moonstruck collection! The gold detail was the perfect match for this layout!
For embellishments I added a floral die cut to the lower left of the layout. I cut off the part of the die cut that would be overhanging the edge of the layout and tucked it in behind my photos. Above the photos I also tucked in a couple of other die cuts to create some layers and added a fabric bow for a little pop of color.
Of course my journaling was the finishing touch. I typed it up into strips and added them above and below the photo.
