Hey everyone, Raquel here today sharing a new project on the blog for Home Decor week. For my home decor project I decided to create with the gorgeous new Moonstruck collection. As I mentioned on my previous post here, the Moonstruck collection screams romance to me and right now it is fitting as hubby and I celebrate our wedding anniversary in early December.
I decided to decorate a printers tray that will be placed on our table in the entrance way to our house. It is not only a nice little gift to be able to show hubby and display in our house, but it also makes a gorgeous addition to our hall table decor.
Here is the tray that I created:
The trays pieces were sized slightly smaller than 3×4″ so to begin with I just printed (6) 3×4″ wedding photos and gathered the gorgeous Moonstruck collection.
I began by trimming my photos down and placing them where I wanted them to go in the tray. I needed to cut off approximately 1/4″ of both the width and the height of the photos.
When positioning the photos inside the tray I tried to make sure that if hubby or myself were looking to the right, then I put those photos on the left side and vice versa. It is a small detail, but it helps the balance of the overall design when we pay attention to smaller details like that.
Half of the tray was comprised of photos, but because this is a piece to remember and celebrate our anniversary, I thought that appropriate.
I chose a couple of the 3×4″ cards from the cut apart sheet Paper 01 to feature in the tray. I loved the quotes or short sentiments and chose the ones that I thought were appropriate to my feelings and thoughts.
For the inserts that were remaining, I decided to fill them with softer toned patterned papers and embellish using ephemera from the collection. This ‘key to my heart’ sentiment is so very soppy but so true so it was the perfect addition.
I also felt that ‘life is more beautiful with you’ sentiment was so beautiful on the cut apart sheet that I didn’t want to embellish that card. For me on this project I felt like less is more. I didn’t want to take away from the meaning or focus of this piece – any embellishing I did add was simple but meaningful. And I am really happy with the end result.
One of the ephemera pieces really struck a chord with me ‘life is made for moments like these’, it’s so true! This was such a special moment for us and still is. I added that to a 3×4″ card using foam adhesive to give it subtle but added dimension.
I was inspired by the butterfly 3×4″ card on Paper 02 to create my own butterfly card. I felt like the card was a little too bold for my project. So instead I made my own. To do this I cut one of the papers into a 3×4″ card and adhered with glue dots two of the pink ephemera butterflies. I adhered them only in the centre so that I could fold the wings to add dimension
I really wanted to use one of the gorgeous florals from ephemera pack so I decided to create a ‘bouquet’ in the bottom right corner. I added a doily to soften the base, and chose two flowers from the ephemera. I wanted them to replicate a bouquet so I tied some twine in a bow around the stem. I then secured it to the card and made sure to add a pop of dimension to one of the flower heads to give it more detail.
I wanted to be able to create a beautiful piece of decor for our home that celebrated our love and this collection was perfect for that!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I hope you have found today’s post inspiring!
