Hey everyone, Raquel here on the blog today and I am kicking off Best Friends week. For me, good friends ties in with last week’s theme of being thankful, cos boy! I am so grateful for those special friends in my life. My circle of friends may have gotten smaller as I have aged, travelled, married and had children, but now I feel our bonds are closer than ever. I have friends who I have been close with for 25+ years and others for less time, but all who hold a special place in my heart.
Reflecting on best friends and those special to us reminds us to make the effort; give our friends a call, a text, or organise a catch up. Life is so busy these days but it is so important to take a few moments to spend with our tribe, those who know us inside and out and mean the world to us. So let’s celebrate our best friends by creating projects this week with this theme.
Here is my layout celebrating best friends:
I decided to scrapbook four of my oldest and closest friends who also happened to be my bridesmaids at my wedding. I have been friends with some of these girls for 25+ years and they mean the world to me. This week’s theme was a great way to reflect and document this friendship.
I had been trying to think of a fun, eye catching and creative way to use the gorgeous floral acetate sheet in the Take Me Away designer collection by Paige Evans. It occurred to me after I cut the sheet in half that I could rotate the corner pieces so that the flowers were bursting from the middle of the page. I love the bright pop that the florals bring, they are just so gorgeous!
Due to the acetate pieces overlapping in the middle, I needed to create a central vertical design. To do this I cut a strip of Paper 15 and adhered it to the middle of the page. I added some machine stitching down each side to add extra detail and dimension.
I added a few layers of paper, a doily from my stash, and some floral cut files behind the photo. The photo is 4×6″ in size and printed in black and white. If you follow me on social media or here at Pink Paislee you probably know how much I love black and white photos! I decided to title the page ‘fantastic friends’ which was made up of the Thickers pack in the collection and a hand typed word.
I added a small cluster to the top left side of the photo so that my embellishments formed a visual triangle. I added a cute chipboard peg, a heart paperclip, and a small hand punched gold glitter heart.
I embellished the bottom right of the photo with another one of the gold hearts, a ‘happy happy happy’ tag, and the bright and fun bunting which I ran along the bottom of the photo.
I typed my journaling on my typewriter and cut it into strips. I love the look of journaling added to pages like this.
Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today. Make sure you pop in tomorrow to see an amazing tutorial based on this weeks theme ‘best friends’!
