Christmas: Having a Merry Christmas

Make things merry on your next Christmas layout, with some fun die cut stars! @pinkpaislee @ahorton

Merry Christmas everyone! It’s Ashley Horton and I’m here to share some Christmas cheer with you. I had some of the Yuletide and Merry & Bright collections on hand and knew they would be perfect for a Christmas layout using one of last year’s photos. Stars are one of my favorite Christmas shapes so I thought it would be fun to create a star background on the layout.

I used Silhouette Studio to design my background and placed several stars to be cut. I also wanted the stars to be inside a circle shape so once I had the stars in place, I layered a circle over them using the Ellipse tool and then used the Crop tool in Silhouette Studio to create the circle around the stars. I cut the design from white cardstock and used three patterned papers from the Yuletide collection to back the star shapes.

I stitched around the circle with my sewing machine to add definition to the shape. Then I fussy cut the reindeer from the tags from the Merry & Bright collection. I wanted to use the deer on the side of my photo and as a break between my title words. I used the gorgeous Macaw foil letter stickers for my title and placed it along the outside edge of the circle.

And you can’t have a Christmas layout without a little bling, so I couldn’t resist placing some of the Yuletide sequins around the circle. This helped add some sparkle to the page and filled in the extra space left from adding my title. For a finishing touch, I used some twine I had in my stash and placed it across the layout. I tied a bow near the photo and reindeer to “tie” the whole layout together.
