It’s that time… time to say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new year! With that in mind, I’m here today to share a layout using a little bit of my older Pink Paislee collections to make room for newer collections. It’s always good to use the collections that have been in your stash for a while, and it’s also fun to mix those collections together. We usually have a low-key New Year’s and do something like a movie or game night on New Year’s Eve. Last year the kids wanted to play Monopoly on NYE, and that kept us pretty busy until midnight.
I decided to go with a neutral background for the layout and used a 12×12 kraft sheet. Since I was using a mix of collections, I thought it would be fun to work with a cut file that let me incorporate several different patterned papers. I cut the design with my Silhouette Cameo from white cardstock. I wanted to do something a little bit different with the patterned paper and cut file, so I placed punched patterned paper circles over the cut file, instead of backing the design with the patterned paper.
Before placing my photos, I splattered a bit of Black Color Shine over the background. I always like the contrast of the black and it also helped to tie in the Bella Rouge acetate alphas I used for my title. I went with a vertical design for the photos and title to keep from covering a large portion of the background cut file. When I started pulling the letters for my title, I realized I was out of the letter “E”, so I cut a “B” and flipped two of the number “3’s” from the pack to fill in the letters that I needed.
At this point in the layout, I felt like it was almost complete, but I wanted just a few embellishments. I used some of the acetate ephemera pieces from the Atlas collection and layered them over the punched circles and I used the Solstice letter stickers to add the year on my layout. I had a lot of fun with this design and I loved how easy it was to combine the Bella Rouge, Solstice, and Atlas collections.
Here’s hoping you have a Happy New Year!!
