Who else chooses a “word” for their year? I do, and have done for many years now! And it’s also become a sort-of “tradition” for me to create a layout documenting this word! Usually I know what my word is before the calendar ticks over. For me, creating a layout based on it is the perfect way to state my intentions for the new year. Do you want to see what my word for 2017 is?
I really need to tell you where the inspiration came from for this layout! While browsing on Pinterest as us crafters tend to do, a photo popped up of some New Year’s Eve party decor. I thought it would be so fun to try to translate that into a scrapbooking layout design. I wanted to use the Moonstruck collection as the colors and sentiments really suited the mood and feeling of the layout.
Across the top of my layout I added a couple of lines of small circles that I punched from patterned paper. Once I added a row of stitching through the centre of them they did start to look a bit like a stitched circle banner.
What’s a party without tissue paper pom poms hanging from the ceiling? I recreated the look of these on my layout by die cutting several sizes of scalloped circles from patterned paper, layering them, and roughing up the edges. I added a line of stitching to “hang” them from the top of my layout.
You just never know when or where inspiration will strike! I will never look at styled party decor the same again! Haha! And I’m definitely ready to welcome in a new year. I have a feeling of excitement not knowing what the next year will bring but with definite guidance from my little word!
