Valentines: Gift Wrapping Ideas

Hello friends! Enza back with you to share a new project created for Valentines week. Gift wrapping and pretty packaging have always been a passion of mine. I think adding handmade touches to any present makes it even more special. Today I’ll show how you can simply make and decorate your own packaging to go with your Valentines. I used mostly the new gorgeous Oh My Heart collection, with bits and piece from Take Me Away.

Enza Gudor_February 10th_StyledI started by choosing the paper I wanted to use. As both sides would be visible, I had to make sure the patterns went well with the color scheme I had in mind. I wanted to use pinks and golds, with touches of green mixed in. Paper 09 worked perfectly for it. I used a cut file from the Silhouette store to create the little bag, which measures 5”H x5”L x2”W. Very easy and fast to assemble. I then created a tag to go with it. I used Paper 08 for the top layer and Paper 14 for the bottom one. The hot pink makes the yellow/goldish tag stand out more. I then wrapped some twine around it to give it more texture and added extra dimension by using foam dots to stick the beautiful flower from the Oh My Heart ephemera pack to the tag. I absolutely adore the heart charms included in the collection! They add such a delicate touch to any project! I also layered one of the mirror hearts from the Take Me Away collection behind it. A fun banner and some more twine finished the tag which I tied to one of the silk ribbon handles on the bag.

Enza Gudor_February 10th_Closeup1Once my bag was completed, I decided to make a gift box to go with it.

Enza Gudor_February 10th_ FullThis time I used my scoring board. I started with a 8”x8” piece of textured white cardstock. For the box base, I scored the paper at the 2” and 6” mark, then I repeated the steps after turning the paper 90 degrees. I cut slits on all four sides (as shown in the picture below) and glued the box together.

Enza Gudor_February 10th_Closeup2For the lid, I started with the same 8”x8” white cardstock. This time though I aligned it to the 1/16” mark and scored at the 2” and 6 1/8” mark then turned the paper 90 degrees and repeated the steps. I cut slits on all four sides and glued it together. Now onto embellishing! I cut two strips (one wider than the other) out of the same Paper 09 I used for my bag and made sure I glued them together so that both patterns would be visible. I then used some cut files to create the leaves and the flower outline to layer below the gold flower. I mixed in some tags from the Take Me Away collection and added another one of those adorable charm hearts on top.
