The new Sweet Freedom collection is perfect for documenting all of your patriotic memories! I snapped some photos of the kids last year for the Fourth of July and I knew I had to use them with this collection. You could also document military photos or photos from visits to memorials and historic landmarks.
I have a thing for stars, so the vellum star paper with the Sweet Freedom collection is right up my alley! I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a large star in the center of the vellum paper and then I layered it over one of the patterned papers from the collection. Then I used my sewing machine to stitch around the outside edge of the large star shape, to give it more definition.
I chose a photo that had all three of the kids in it and placed it on the left side of the star shape. I knew I wanted to use a mix of the embellishments from the collection to fill in the star shape. I started placing some of the ephemera pieces and then filled in with the dimensional stars and puffy stickers. I also worked my title into the star shape by placing it next to the photo, using the Bandana Thickers.
I alternated the Thickers colors to add interest to the title. At this point, I decided not to add anything else to the layout because I wanted the focus to be on the star shape in the center of the layout.
Next time you’re creating a patriotic layout or project, make sure you pick up the Sweet Freedom collection! It’s the perfect patriotic collection!
