Who is up for a cupcake party? There is nothing cuter than a chocolate cupcake with adorable handmade toppers. It’s really fun to create little decorative elements to jazz up any special occasion.
To make the cupcake toppers, I used the WeR Memory Keepers frame punchboard and some gorgeous colorful patterns from the “Oh My Heart” collection. I backed my frames with a piece of vellum from the “Sweet Freedom” collection and I personalized each one of them using the “C’est La Vie” acetate letters. To make them a bit more interesting I used a couple small embellishments on each piece.
You can use letters for the initials of your guests as I did with my cupcakes or you can place them next to each other to spell a word. If you bake enough cupcakes, you can even go for a full “Happy Birthday”.
To make my cupcake buffet more celebratory, I created some DIY garlands. My favorite one is the accordion garland and it is extremely easy to make. I just picked my favorite patterned papers, scored every half inch, and folded each paper into an accordion shape. Stapled all the pieces into fan shapes and then attached them one after another, flipping them upside down at every connection point.
To complement the accordion garland, I added a strand of colorful circles with patterns from the “Oh My Heart” collection. It’s a very subtle extra element that can fill the blank wall without overpowering your other decorations.
These decorations are as delicious as the cupcakes themselves. You are all invited to the party so just come, take a bite and yes, you can keep your cake toppers!
