Do you like to make lists and check them twice? I usually make and have lists everywhere… on my phone, on scratch paper, on post it notes, in my head! Today, I’m taking the list to another level by using it as a design element on my layout. Lists on layouts are a great way to document favorite things, likes, and milestones. I used the Oh My Heart collection by Paige Evans to document some of our daughter’s current likes and loves.
I love the Sunshine Thickers from the Oh My Heart collection and I wanted to use them around the perimeter of the layout for the list of likes and loves. I started the layout by placing my photo in the top left corner. Then I added some of our daughter’s current likes around the outside edge of the page using the Sunshine Thickers. I placed a few embellishments from the collection in between the words to add some separation. I wanted to make sure the Thickers were secure on my layout so once I had everything in place, I machine stitched around all of the words.
I had a large empty space in the center of the layout so I used the space for a hand stitched title. At this point I had not decided what I wanted to do for the title. My first thought was to cut the title from various patterned papers in the collection, but I wanted more texture on the layout so I changed my mind to the hand stitching idea. I couldn’t use my Sketch Pens to draw the title on my Cameo since I already had Thickers and embellishments on the layout. Instead, I cut the letters on the Cameo and placed them on the layout so I could trace them exactly where I wanted the title. Then I poked holes with my paper piercer and stitched over the outlines with coordinating embroidery floss.
I really love the end result of this layout! Creating this type of list would be a great idea for yearly layouts documenting your kids’ (or your own) favorite things and likes & loves!
