Hey everyone, it’s Raquel see with you today sharing two cards I have made as part of the Summer week here on the Pink Paislee blog. Of course being Summer week, I had to choose the new ‘Summer Lights’ collection to work with.
I was really inspired by the mermaid icons in this collection. I decided to create two summery mer-mazing cards to share with you today which you can easily replicate at home.
For the first card I wanted to make a feature of the 3×4″ mermaid card from Paper 01. I was able to create some layers from papers in the 6×6″ paper pad and Paper 11 which I was really drawn to with its bright yellow colouring and pops of pink on the reverse sides neon hearts.
The 3×4″ card is adhered and layered on the card base using a foam adhesive to give some dimension. The card needed a sentiment or phrase on it so I used a beach sign from the cardstock stickers pack as a base for it. I used the ‘sweet’ from the word jumble stickers and ‘best friends’ from the cardstock sticker pack. I love the unique way I was able to show who the recipient of the card may be.
To finish of the card and embellish it, I fussy cut a shell from Paper 12 and layered a fussy cut heart from Paper 11. The heart was adhered with a foam dot to add dimension.
For my second card I decided to continue with the mermaid theme. My inspiration and focal point for this card was the mermaid in the chipboard Thickers pack. For the base of my card I used a Silhouette Design store file called Scale Lace #4397 and backed that with a patterned paper from the 6×6″ paper pad. The gradient in the paper creates a beautiful effect on this background.
I decided to add a base for the mermaid to sit on. To do this I cut a hill from one of the 6×6 papers and adhered that to the bottom. I embellished either side of the hill with shell stickers from both the cardstock sticker pack and the Thickers pack.
I created a sun using the bright yellow Paper 11 and added a chipboard cloud to the top right corner of the card. For the card sentiment, I used the ‘hello sunshine’ square sticker from the cardstock pack. I adhered this to a piece of patterned paper to give it a mat and added it to the card with some foam adhesive.
I hope these mermaid cards have inspired you this week as part of our Summer theme!
