Hey Pink Paislee fans, it’s Elsie here! Raise your hand if you ever get “scrappy FOMO?” *Raises hand*. FOMO, if you don’t already know, stands for “Fear Of Missing Out” and yes, the struggle is real when you can’t get your hands on some pretty scrapbook products! Thankfully there’s a solution: AC Digitals.
My birthday was back in June and I have been wanting to make a birthday-themed project since then. I love the Pink Paislee Birthday Bash collection but I only have a few of the papers and none of the embellishments… cue the “scrappy FOMO”! But what’s brilliant about AC Digitals is that you can pick up those collections you missed out on and print your own embellishments. It couldn’t be more simple!
I’ve made an exploding box mini album for today’s post, as there were loads of pages I could use for journaling and decorating. This was especially useful because I’m documenting ‘23 things I learned at 23’, so I needed quite a few pages to decorate and journal on.
I printed 3 sheets of embellishments on some A4/letter sized white cardstock. I have a regular home printer, nothing fancy, and I was so impressed by the images’ quality and detail. I wasn’t expecting it to look so good printed from a, quite frankly, rubbish printer!
Although I printed mine out on some plain white cardstock, you could experiment by using different colours and materials. Plain sticker paper would work so well for this, and if you have a die-cutting machine you could use the Print and Cut feature for even more ease.
Another thing that’s great about digital products, is that you can pick and choose what you want to use and what size your embellishments are. Because I’m making a mini album, I printed most of the elements at a relatively small size to fit my pages. Also some of the embellishments had phrases on them which weren’t applicable for my project, so I simply didn’t print them!
I customised some of the embellishments, by doing some hand-stitching on them. This was super simple and quick to do and it was reassuring to know that if I made a mistake I could always print out that piece again. Also if anyone knows where the quote on the plate is from, you and I are on very similar wavelengths haha!
Use the printed embellishments on your photos! I included a couple of selfies into this album and popped on a party hat and party horn onto my face! It adds a bit of humour and silliness to the album, which I love. I made sure these elements were printed out at the correct size to be relatively in proportion to my photos.
I even used some of the embellishments to create flip-out pages, so I could include some extra journalling and play with the embellishments a little more. I used some of the washi tape from the Oh My Heart sticker book to create the flips.
You may have noticed that I also used some Oh My Heart products in the album. These two collections work so incredibly well together and it was nice to be able to include some speciality elements from the physical Oh My Heart products, like the copper foiling in this chipboard piece.
As there’s quite a bit of journalling in this album, I printed my journaling onto some vellum. This made sure that the journalling blended nicely into the papers and embellishments and wasn’t too distracting!
And finally, to finish the outside of the box I attached some jewellry wire to the lid of the box and added some of the Birthday Bash embellishments to it. I love the way the ‘wish’ candle sentiment looks here on top of the box, it almost looks like a birthday cake!
Thanks for joining me today everyone! I hope you’ve got some ideas on how to include digital elements in your projects and that you check out the AC Digitals store and grab some pretty things to avoid the “scrappy FOMO”!
