Hello it’s Zinia here and today I’m going to share with you the most colorful page I ever created! The theme this week as you probably already know is Pattern Paper Play. For my layout, I decided to play with some monochromatic patterns and create a rainbow background.
I picked papers from the Summer Lights and Oh My Heart collections (most of them were the B sides of the patterns) and cut a couple of thin strips out of each pattern. Then I cut the strips down to small rectangles.
I placed the paper pieces on the page to create a weaving-looking pattern. I went from white, yellow, orange, light pink, deep pink, purple, periwinkle, mint, and green. It’s not literally rainbow but it’s so fun and colorful anyway! I intentionally picked monochromatic patterns with a tone-on-tone look to keep the colors separated and make this design work nicely.
I left a little bit of breathing space at the top because all these bright colors made the background very busy. I decided to use a big photo so it will stand out against the background. I added a lot of paper and embellishment layers behind it as well as a few clusters around it. I tried to only use light elements around my photo again to help it separate from the background.
This is really a fun and versatile design you can recreate with smaller scraps or even branding strips. The process of sticking all the paper pieces on the background is a little bit time consuming but it’s enjoyable anyway. Just grab a cup of your favorite beverage, put your favorite show on the TV, and enjoy your crafty time.
I really hope you will give this a try. Have a wonderful scrappy day
