Hello everyone! This week is all about summer and beach vibes here on the blog and I’m sharing a layout featuring the gorgeous Summer Lights collection. What I love about this collection is not only the fun and fresh colors, but also the inspiring patterns.
When I saw Paper 06 I knew I wanted to recreate that geometric pattern and use it as my background. The paper features what looks like diagonal strips of little circles, but I was inspired by the sparkle-like shapes created by the negative space in between the circles themselves. I know it is a little confusing, so here is a picture of the paper.
I modified a cut file to obtain the desired shape and just replicated it multiple times. The smaller patterns in the 6×6 paper pad worked perfectly for this. I added some stitching to the individual shapes for texture and to achieve dimension I adhered them down with foam dots.
Once the background was ready, I worked on the layers behind my picture. I love the softness of tulle and I think it fits the summer theme quite well. The one I used has glitter in it, so it kind of matches the “sparkles” on the page. It is very subtle, but it really adds a unique touch.
Frames and ephemera pieces were placed all around the photo to create colorful clusters. Mixing different types of embellishments, such as stickers, chipboard stickers, and die cuts, gives your page more movement and lots of dimension.
That is all for today! I hope this inspires you to get creative with your patterned papers and gives you ideas for your next layout. Let your imagination fly and have fun with it!
