It’s never easy to lose someone you love, but we can remember our loved ones by documenting special photos. My grandmother passed away in March and we had just celebrated her 9oth birthday in January. The photo on this layout was the last one that I got to take with her. I wanted a layout that reflected how much I love her and that even though she is gone, she is still close to my heart.
I wanted to use the new Turn the Page collection by Paige Evans and create a heart look for the background. I used a cut file and backed it with one of the floral patterned papers from the collection. Once I had the cut file in place, I hand-stitched around all of the hearts. I always love the texture that hand-stitching adds to a layout.
Since I had so much color in the background, I kept my photo black & white. The contrast really helps the photo stand out from the busy background. I wanted to keep the embellishing very simple on this layout, so I placed a few around the photo and added a second cluster to the right-hand side of the page. I finished the layout by adding my title with the floral letter stickers.
I hope you’ve found some inspiration today for documenting photos of the loved ones you’ve lost. You can also add journaling to your layout to document special moments shared or moments you want to remember for years to come.
