If you’re a card maker, then you know putting just the right touches on your card can be the very thing that makes them special. Embellishing a hand-made card makes it unique and specific for the person that you want to have it. So how about giving your card some great texture by adding washi tape, sequins and ribbon? I have two cards to share with you today using a fun mix of these very embellishments!
I started my first card with a white cardstock base. Instead of covering the front with patterned paper, I thought it would be fun to use the washi strips from the Turn the Page collection. I placed different washi strips vertically on the front of the card, layering them side by side. Once I had all of them in place, I trimmed away the excess from the top of the card. This is a great way to use up any washi strips or rolls that you’ve had sitting around for awhile. For the card’s sentiment, I used one of the paper clips that says “Better Things Ahead”. I wanted to add some of the Turn the Page sequins, so I placed a sequin flower in the center of the paper clip flower and added two of the cute leaf sequins to the paper clip flower. And I finished the card with the chipboard butterflies and a bit of machine stitching.
On the second card, I wanted to incorporate some of the ribbon that goes with the Turn the Page collection. The lace ribbon is my favorite and I knew that I just had to use it on the card! I used a pleating technique and placed the ribbon down the left side of the card. As I pleated, I used a bit of adhesive to hold the ribbon in place. Then I ran the card through my sewing machine to stitch the ribbon down. Next I covered the remaining front of the card with one of the patterned papers from the 6×6 paper pad. I finished the card with a mix of stars from the chipboard sheet and the puffy stickers pack.
You can personalize your own hand-made cards with all of the fun embellishments that are in the Turn the Page collection!
