Hello everyone, it’s Zinia here and this week we are all about stamping here on the Pink Paislee blog! I’m a really big fan of stamps and my favorite kind is layering stamps. So you can imagine how excited I got when I saw the amazing stamp set that Paige Evans designed for her new Turn the Page collection.
For this layout I decided to use the butterflies to create some DIY embellishments. I started by stamping the solid butterfly image a few times in different colors and then I used some vellum to stamp the dotted butterfly image with a slightly darker shade. When everything was stamped I took my favorite pair of American Crafts scissors and started fussy cutting all the images. It took a little bit of time but the images are really simple and easy to cut so you can do it while watching your favorite show on TV.
To assemble my embellishments, I layered a vellum image on top of a solid color stamp on cardstock and attached them together with my sewing machine. If you don’t have a sewing machine you can use any type of adhesive. I ended up adhering some with my hot glue gun to speed up the process.
Now that the embellishments are ready to go it’s time to start putting together the page. I used a sheet of patterned paper from Turn the Page collection as my background and I started building up a cluster of butterflies. I also fussy cut butterflies from another paper that comes in the same collection to mix in some more colors and patterns. The final touch for my cluster was to add a few pieces of chipboard flowers.
I kept a few of the butterflies to create a smaller cluster around my photo on the corner of the page. To fill the empty space in between I decided to play a little bit with mixed media. So I grabbed my watercolors and started adding drips of coordinating shades.
Since I wanted the butterflies to be the spotlight of this page, I kept my title small and subtle. To do so, I used the letter stickers that come in the Turn the Page sticker book.
I really hope you enjoyed this and you got inspired to create your own fun embellishments using your favorite stamp sets. Until next time, happy crafting!
