Happy Friday everyone! It’s Elsie back on the blog today and I’m wrapping up our second ‘Wild Child’ week!

I’ve been loving to create with this collection as it’s inspiring so many project ideas that I hadn’t ever thought of creating before… Today’s layout is a prime example of that because I’ve made a layout with aliens on my page! Yes! You heard me right…

elsie-pinkpaislee-wildchild1See, I really wasn’t joking! I love the Space themed embellishments and papers throughout this collection and so I was inspired to work with that theme.

I was brave and forgoed my usual beloved white cardstock background and used the epic ‘B’ side of paper 09 as my background. I love the combination of photo-realistic clouds with celestial tone-on-tone blue doodles, it’s so pretty and whimsical that I was almost tempted to frame the paper as it is!

elsie-pinkpaislee-wildchild9There’s a really punchy lime green colour in the collection which isn’t a colour I’m always drawn to, but I love the combination of that green with navy and so it was the perfect colour to create my aliens from.

To create my aliens I used two sketch cut files, which can be found here and here. Because these were sketch designs, and not regular cut files, I used my sketch pen to draw the designs onto some scrap paper. I then used tracing paper and a pencil to go over the images so I could then trace the designs onto the patterned papers, so I could cut them out by hand.

elsie-pinkpaislee-wildchild6I used hand-stitching to add details back onto the designs. If you don’t like stitching, using pens or pencils is definitely a good substitute.

elsie-pinkpaislee-wildchild3I love how cute and goofy these aliens look and they match perfectly with the crazy photo of my brothers and I when we were small.

elsie-pinkpaislee-wildchild5There are loads of Space themed embellishments throughout the collection and so I used a lot of them to help set my space scene. One of my favourite die-cut pieces is this red planet (shown in the picture below) because it has red foiling on it! I love this colour of foiling, it’s so unique and adds a lovely bit of shine to the page!

elsie-pinkpaislee-wildchild8On paper 07 there are so many cute images to cut apart but my favourite was the piece with the moon with journalling lines. I used this below my photo so I could pop my journalling on it. However, the full moon (ha ha!) would not have worked with the design of this page, as it would’ve been too big, so I cut it into a crescent moon shape.

elsie-pinkpaislee-wildchild4I think it’s always important to remind yourself that no matter how pretty an embellishment is, if it’s not working for you, it’s totally okay to customise it by cutting it up!

And if you haven’t done so already, make sure you check out the rest of the team’s gorgeous Wild Child projects over the past couple of weeks!
