All of us like to receive gifts, but I find it’s always better to give gifts. What better time of year than the month of December to create handmade gifts for your friends and family?! Pinterest is a wealth of crafty inspiration and you can always find fun ideas for handmade gifts. I created a hot chocolate holder using some products from the Turn the Page collection that I’ve seen on Pinterest using a paper plate.
I’ve got a quick tutorial to share with you, showing how I put this holder together.
Step 1: Cut a large circle from a piece of patterned paper. My circle is 11.75 inches. Cut a piece of white cardstock to the same size and then adhere the two circles together.
Step 2: Make two marks toward the center of your circle. These marks will create the base of your holder. Try to make sure you have about the same amount of space on each side of your marks. I made mine 2.5 inches wide in the center.
Step 3: Fold along the two marks you made for the base. Then fold again on the other sides of the holder, about 2 inches in.
Step 4: Cut along the two marks you made in Step 2, until you reach the folded line.
Step 5: Fold the ends of your holder together, adding adhesive to make sure they are secure.
Step 6: Finish with some ribbon tied around the holder.
I completed the look of my hot chocolate holder with some embellishments from the Turn the Page Ephemera pack. And I used some letter stickers to finish the gift tag that I placed on the holder with a small clothespin.
This holder was the perfect size for a couple of hot chocolate packets, some mini marshmallows, and candy canes. You could also use it as a stationary holder, for make up, small toys, etc. And it doesn’t have to just be a Christmas-themed project; this would be great for a birthday gift too with some different patterned papers and embellishments!
