Our family loves to attend fairs, festivals, amusement parks, parades… you name it, we love it! Any time we are all together for some of our favorite activities, we like to get together for at least one photo with everyone in it. No promises on how well the photo turns out, though!! These types of photos are great for looking back to see what types of activities our family enjoyed over the years and to see how much the kids grow. I wanted to document a family photo from a trip to Nashville, TN, where we visited the cutest pumpkin house this past October. The Turn the Page collection has some great fall colors that went along with the photo and theme of my layout.
I wanted to have a diagonal design down the center of the layout and a large title. I cut the word fall on my Silhouette Cameo and backed it with four patterned papers from the Turn the Page collection. I also cut some leaf shapes on the Cameo and scattered them in the diagonal design, around the word fall. Once the leaves were in place, I added some machine stitching to each one. Then I used the Thickers from the collection to finish the title.
I wanted to add some embellishments that coordinated with the fall theme, so I used colors and a couple of shapes that fit with the layout. There are a couple of wood acorns in the collection and I just had to find the perfect spot for them! I didn’t need to add a lot of embellishing because of all of the color that I had going on with the die cut leaves and large title.
When I finished the layout, I felt like it needed just a little something extra. I grabbed two of my Heidi Swapp Color Shine colors, a yellow and coral, and splattered them over the layout. They matched the colors in the collection perfectly and added that finishing touch the layout needed.
I hope you’ve been inspired with some ideas for documenting family time on your next project!
