Raquel Bowman: Greatest Adventure Layout

Hey everyone, it’s Raquel with you today sharing my last post for the month of January and my last post as a design team member. I have been so blessed to design for Pink Paislee for the past 3 years. What fun it has been to see the brand evolve to what it is today, I feel very lucky. Best wishes to the new team for 2018, I am sure you saw some familiar and some new faces who will be full of inspiration this coming year!

Anyways, lets get back to the layout that I will be sharing with you today. This week I am kicking off another Free for All week here on the blog. This means that as designers we can choose the collections we use, the theme of our layout, etc. I chose to use the gorgeous Turn the Page collection and document this gorgeous photo of my kiddies.

Here is the layout I created:

The title makes a large statement on my layout, which was a ‘Greatest Adventure’ cut file from the Paper Issues store. As soon as I saw the sentiment ‘you are my greatest adventure’ I knew I wanted to scrapbook a photo of my kiddies together. This particular photo was taken when they modelled some clothes for a small local company so it was one of those ‘just because’ layouts in terms of wanting to tell a story. ‘Just because’ layouts normally contain photos that I want to scrapbook but not necessarily a big story I may want to tell, these layouts will probably not contain much/if any journaling.

To create the title I simply cut it on my electronic die cutting machine and then backed it with the grey side of Paper 07 from the Turn the Page collection. To emphasise the word ‘greatest’ I backed that with one of the papers from the 6×6 paper pad.

The photo is printed slightly smaller than a 4×4″ size with a white border. I matted the photo with a red paper from the 6×6″ paper pad. I love the pop of colour that the red brings to the page. I used a lot of the chipboard stickers on this page. Including the floral bouquet to the left of the photo, some of the stars, the arrow, and the sign ‘take the path least taken’. The favourite tab was added from the Paige EvansĀ 30-page sticker book. I adore adding tabs to the tops or sides of photos.

The whole photo cluster is added to the page with dimensional adhesive. This adds just that extra touch of detail to the page. I also machine stitched a border around the edge of the page and added the patterned paper #24 to the back. The pop of blue ties in with the blue in the word ‘greatest’. I finished the page with a diagonal scattering of stars from the collection to help with the flow of the page.
