Hey everyone, it’s Elsie here and for today’s layout I was inspired by one of my great loves: coffee! I know it’s such a cliche to be obsessed with coffee but, since I started drinking it a few years ago, it’s become a very necessary part of my mornings, especially when it’s still so cold and wintry outside.
I decided to keep things simple for this page. Well… simple in ‘Elsie’ terms! I was inspired by this cut file and started by choosing some patterned papers from Turn The Page and running them through my die-cutting machine to cut all of the parts of the design, which I then pieced together. It’s really easy to do with cut files like this, as everything is sized so perfectly!
And because I couldn’t help myself, I added some extra detail with some hand-stitching!
As soon as I saw this beautiful snowflake cut file from Paige, I knew I wanted to make a feature of it on a page and so I cut it out from the awesome teal pattern on Paper 13.
Since the snowflake is so bright and large, it ran the risk of overpowering the other of bits and pieces that I wanted to stand out, like my coffee cup girl and photo. To fix this I nestled some stitched white clouds under and over the snowflake to help it blend into the background.
The clouds were also handy because it meant that I could place some embellishment clusters on them. I created a bit of a mix-and-match title in the top right corner of the layout using some of the clear and alpha stickers from the sticker book and the ‘everyday’ die-cut piece, to create a title that reads: ‘here’s to coffee everyday’. See, I told you I’m such a cliche!
