Hey guys, it’s Lisa on the blog today! I’m sharing two cards I made using the Pick-Me-Up collection by Paige Evans. It’s the first time I made cards for a blog post and I wanted them to be different and special. I really didn’t have to think very long… as soon as I saw the gorgeous moths and butterflies in Paige’s collection, I knew what I wanted to do!
To make the moth I used Paper 23. It’s a gorgeous purple ombre. I drew my moth on a sheet of paper, cut out the different pieces, and placed them on the patterned paper, always taking care to place the parts on a different section of the paper so that I had a different color and ombre effect on every piece. When I had all the pieces I machine-stitched around the borders with gold thread. I am not that good at machine stitching and you can see where it went wrong, but I think that it gives a more whimsical look so I didn’t bother about that very much! I put the pieces together by sticking the two back pieces together and attaching the wings with a brad, making sure that the wings were movable. Then I put foam dots on the back of the body and attached it on top, covering the part where everything was stuck together.
But of course, it’s not really a card without a cute message. So…
When you move the wings to the top, you can see the message. With the alphabet stamps, I wrote happy birthday on one side and for the other side, I used phrase stickers.
The butterfly was made in the exact same way. I used the rest of the paper I used for the moth and Paper 16.
When you lift up the wings you can see the message of the card.
I hope you like what I came up with. If you want to see the process video for the moth, make sure you check out my YouTube channel and you can also follow me on Instagram. Thank you and see you again soon!
