I love the soft, pastel colors of Spring, but I don’t often use them all together on a single layout. Usually I have pops of bright color thrown in – which I love – but this time, I just used those light shades. I really love the results and it has such a calming feel to it.
I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite parts of the scrapbooking process is going through all my stuff to find all of the bits and pieces that will really add to the design and to the story that I’m telling. So, naturally, the first thing I did was go through all of Pink Paislee collections to pick out all of the pastel colored papers and embellishments and I was sure to include some hearts. I love embellishments that support the subject of the photos!
I used a patterned paper circle left over from another project and decided it would become the home for my photos. I added some patterned papers coming out to the left of the half circle. Both of the patterns came from papers that had other colors on them, but since they were striped, I was able to cut out just the soft colors that I wanted.
I created some layers around the edges of the photos (using some of the stickers and die cuts I spent so much time hunting for!) for some added interest.
I also added some floral stickers from the Paige Evans Sticker Book, popping some of them up for more dimension.
Lastly, because I felt like the layout was very visually heavy on the bottom right, I added a little cluster of stickers and die cuts to the top left to balance it out.
Some gold spray mist and a few gold staples added just the right finishing touch! You can see how it all came together in the process video below!
Have you created a pastel layout lately? If you are more prone to bright colors (or pops of bright color with some softer tones, like me), I would highly suggest trying something out of your comfort zone! You might just find that you love the results!
