Pastels: Spring Umbrella Layout

Hey friends, it’s Elsie back again today! I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a pastel colour palette on your scrapbook pages because the end result is always so soft, airy and pretty. I was really excited about this week’s theme and I’ve created a Spring-inspired layout using Pick-Me-Up and Turn The Page.

spring_elsie_pinkpaislee_layout_1One of the many reasons why I love working with Pink Paislee products is that the colours and patterns are always so rich and vibrant, but there are still some amazing patterns which satisfy my pastel-loving-heart! Therefore I decided to work from two collections for this page because I wanted to get as many pastel colours and patterns as possible!

spring_elsie_pinkpaislee_layout_4Pastel colours always remind me of Spring so I thought it would be a cute idea to create a layout inspired by those pesky April downpours.

I’ve wanted to use this umbrella cut file ever since Paige released it, and I decided to supersize it and substitute the ‘I’ in my title with the umbrella handle for a fun and whimsical design.

spring_elsie_pinkpaislee_layout_8I cut my letters from various scraps of paper from both Turn The Page and Pick Me Up, including some of the gold foiled papers in the paper pads. I deliberately made some of the letters bigger to get a topsy-turvy look.

I used one of the floral Turn The Page patterns to back my umbrella. Rather than backing the entire brolly with one piece of paper, I backed each section with different parts of the pattern to get a much more varied and interesting look.

spring_elsie_pinkpaislee_layout_2Of course I couldn’t create a Spring-inspired page without some florals! I mixed and matched some of the signature florals from Turn The Page and Pick Me Up and made sure I chose the flowers that weren’t predominantly dark colours.

spring_elsie_pinkpaislee_layout_5As my final bit of embellishing I fussy-cut some of the butterflies from Turn The Page. I chose these butterflies because they are more pastel colours than the ones from Pick Me Up. Although I did mix in some of the chipboard and washi tape butterflies from Pick Me Up for good measure!

spring_elsie_pinkpaislee_layout_7Thanks for stopping by everyone, I hope you enjoyed hearing about my layout!

Have a great week!
