Hey crafty friends – it’s Elsie here wrapping up Auburn Lane week on the blog! I’m seriously loving this collection. The colours, the textures, and the most beautiful flowers all equal a really inviting and fun collection to scrap with.
I couldn’t resist showcasing the florals on this first layout, and so I decided to create a floral bouquet of flowers.
The B side of Paper 04 is an amazing newspaper print. I love patterned papers with lots of text on them and I immediately knew I wanted to make a feature of that paper for my first layout.
I folded an 8×8 square piece of the newspaper pattern to create the cone shape to hold the flowers. And to add more texture and create a more realistic look, I tore some of the edges and curled the corners. To fill my newspaper cone I used some fussy-cut florals from Papers 03 and 06, and some die-cuts.
There is an entire ephemera pack of flowers in this collection which I’m going to need an everlasting supply of! It’s packed with small and large floral cardstock pieces as well as vellum pieces that have gold foil on them. It’s perfect!
I simply layered the flowers on top of each other and adhered them with some foam, to create loads of dimension. I also wrapped some twine around the newspaper to make it look as if the twine is holding the bouquet together.
To this twine I attached my photo, which I cut into a label shape and tied to the bouquet. Cutting my photo into a label really helped make my photo part of the main design of the page. I also think it’s fun to experiment and get creative with the shapes of your photos!
And if you love the mini foam Thickers in the Pick-Me-Up collection, you’re gonna need the ‘Happy Life’ Thickers in this collection! They’re the same font and size as the ones in Pick-Me-Up, but this time they’re gold and rose gold foil on white and navy foam… they’re to die for!
I used the rose gold/navy ones to create my title on this page because they created a much more vintage/antique look which worked well against the woodgrain background.
