Hey friends, it’s Lisa back on the blog sharing one of my favorite layouts I’ve made lately.
I’m so so happy about how this turned out It’s so fun and bright and makes me so happy. So to start off this layout, I chose this octopus cut file… okay no… I wanted to use this cut file and so I used it in this layout… that’s how it really happened… 😉
I backed it with papers from different collections: Summer Lights, Wild Child, and some Paige Evans collections. Then I used matching thread to stitch around the borders, but only in different areas. I thought it would give a nice touch to the octopus. I also used some pearl-maker drops to fill in the little circles on the octopus’ tentacles.
On the cut file you can see that the octopus has a little flower on its head. In my Silhouette programme, I cut the flower out, copied it several times in different sizes, and let the machine cut them out. Then I backed some of them with paper and left the others as is. I took two flowers and stacked them on top of each other to create some dimension.
To prep my background I used a sheet of white watercolor paper, sprayed it with a lot of water, and used a bit of blue watercolor to paint the whole sheet, using more color in some areas to make it more interesting and water-like.
I matted my photo on several pieces of patterned paper and ephemera and then I adhered the octopus and the matted picture on my layout. I also placed the three flowers I created on the page. Then I used all kinds of embellishments to decorate the page. Ephemera, chipboard stickers, cardstock stickers, rub-ons, washi tape strips… I used the washi strips to create an irregular border around the page. I always like to have borders around my layouts, it looks more finished to me.
As a title, I used some Turn the Page Thickers and wrote Happy Heart. Do you also get inspired by the little words and sentences on the stickers to find your title? I often do – love those little phrases and quotes.
To finish the layout… you know what’s coming… 😉 YES! I made some splatters of color all around the page! I really hope you like it! Thank you for stopping by!
