A Cute & Whimsical Halloween Layout!

Happy Halloween PP fans! It’s Elsie here and since it’s Halloween today, I couldn’t resist making a cute and spooky layout to celebrate. If you don’t have any Halloween supplies, fear not! For this layout, I primarily used papers from the Whimsical collection and dipped into a few other Pink Paislee collections. Let me talk you through everything!

elsie_oct31_halloween_layout1Firstly I started with my background. I used one of my favourite papers from Whimsical (paper 08), because the ombre purple pattern is the perfect paper to use to create a ‘spooky’ night sky!

I also dug out the stamp set from Turn The Page and used the small open star stamp to heat emboss some white stars all over the background. I love how simple this was to do, but it creates such a lovely and magical effect.

elsie_oct31_halloween_layout4Next, I backed this Haunted House cut file with papers from Whimsical. These colours and patterns aren’t what you typically think of when you think of Halloween, but the creepy house cut file creates that spooky effect with whatever cute papers you place behind it!

elsie_oct31_halloween_layout3To frame the layout, I fussy-cut some of the gorgeous Whimsical florals from papers 03 and 14. Not only does clustering the flowers around the layout look pretty, it helps bring the page together.

elsie_oct31_halloween_layout5Since I didn’t use a Halloween collection, I used my die-cutting machine to create my own die-cuts. I cut some bats and a witch flying on a broom from black cardstock, so they looked like silhouettes against my night sky background.

elsie_oct31_halloween_layout6To create my title, I used a mix of alphas from Pick-Me-Up. I overlapped the chipboard letters to spell out ‘spook’, and for the first part of the title I used a black paint pen to colour the mini navy foam alphas, so they would match the rest of the layout.

elsie_oct31_halloween_layout2Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you all have a spooktacular Halloween!
