Happy Monday Pink Paislee friends! It’s Elsie here and I’m kicking off the week by sharing a very ‘meta’ layout that celebrates my all time favourite thing to do: craft!
The Whimsical collection has so many crafty and arty themed embellishments, that I was inspired to create a layout documenting my favourite hobby. And so I hope I can also encourage you to do the same!
For this layout I started with my photo. I used a picture of my craft space and printed it in black and white which helped make the photo stand out amongst all of the colourful embellishments I ended up adding to the layout.
For a bit of ‘whimsy’ (hehe) I created a paper-pieced easel to prop my photo on. To create this I used a neutral beige pattern paper (paper 24) and cut small strips of about 1cm in width and arranged them around the photograph to create an easel shape. You could use a cut file to create this, but I think it’s even more simple to create the easel by hand. This kind of layout would be the perfect layout to do some mixed media on, but I wasn’t feeling that brave when I made this page, so I decided to fake it!!
To create the giant paint splats, I chose some of the plainer patterned papers from the collection (papers: 08, 10, 11, 12) and used my scissors to freehand cut a splotch shape. The beauty of creating these shapes is that you don’t need to be particularly neat or accurate because they’re supposed to look messy and imperfect!
I love the little paint tube embellishments in the Whimsical collection, but I especially loved them when they were placed over the paint splotches I created. It looks so adorable!
And to draw your eye to the title I clustered lots of the arty embellishments around it. I used pieces from the chipboard, cardstock and die-cut packs, as well as some of the tiny puffy stickers which are the cutest things ever! Thanks for stopping by today everyone, I hope you’re inspired to get crafty with the Whimsical collection!
