Hello, PP friends! Enza back with you to share a new, colorful layout featuring the gorgeous Whimsical collection. This is such a happy collection with an amazing variety of colors and patterns. There is something for everyone!
I decided to go with a strong, vibrant color for the background – although I usually pick more neutral tones, I love how this makes all the other elements on the page pop. The cut file I used is called Leaf Wreath and was designed by Paige. I duplicated the image, varying the size, to create three wreaths that fit inside one another. I used textured white cardstock to cut it once, and the beautiful Paper 16 to cut it a second time. This saved me a bit of time because instead of backing each individual leaf with bits of paper, I had the cut-outs all ready to go. I simply paper-pieced it together. Plus, I have an extra set of wreaths already cut for my next layout 😉
After adhering the cut files down, I worked on embellishing the photo. First of all, I want to say this photo of my little one and me has my heart. It was taken at the beginning of October one early morning at school. She was very timid that day for some reason, although she had been going to school for about a month. She wouldn’t let go of me and said she would miss me all day. Now, she’s not usually very vocal and rarely says the way she feels. She also LOVES school and wouldn’t want to miss a day! I’ll never forget that moment and this was the perfect way to document it (all my journaling is in the back of the layout).
I layered several fussy cut frames behind the photo as well as the gorgeous flowers that come in the collection. I mounted everything on pieces of foam sheet to add dimension, and fussy cut a few sentiment banners from Paper 08 which is one of my favorites!
I also punched out some butterflies from the same striped patterned paper and machine-stitched them in place, trying to match the colors in the wreath. A fun orange tassel and enamel dots finished the layout.
