Hello my crafty friends! How about a set of super fun Christmas cards created with the amazing Whimsical collection? I love how they turned out! So playful and, well, whimsical 😉
Most of the time when I don’t have a themed collection to work with, I turn to cut files for help. The choice of the color scheme makes all the difference and you can achieve any look you like depending on the design you are using.
The first card features the Christmas Tree Background cut file (ID 233785) designed by Paige Evans. The cut file comes in a 12×12 format so I only used a portion of it to fit a 5” square card panel. I had to play around with the placement of the trees, but it was pretty easy to do.
For the color scheme, I went with shades of purple, pink, teal, and green. You can find non traditional color scheme for Christmas décor all over the web. Pinterest is usually my go-to place
Once I had the background ready, I decided to enlarge one of the trees and make it the focal point of my card. Foam adhesive helped me give it dimension while the gold thread I placed behind it brought in a festive vibe. For the sentiment, I tried to achieve an ombre look with the pretty foam letter stickers which are my favorite right now!
Enamel dots and a gold chipboard star finished the card.
For the second card I used the Ho Ho Ho cut file (ID 232490) also by Paige Evans and tried to incorporate more traditional colors. Green and red with touches of mint and purple.
Here again I had to resize the cut file to fit a 5” square card base. I backed the images with patterned paper and adhered three little trees from the previous card in the middle of the O’s. I added gold thread behind them and used foam adhesive to adhere them down.
For the snowflakes, I simply turned them slightly and gave them dimension with a foam dot before topping them with enamel dots.
Thank you for stopping by today! What do you think of my Whimsical cards? Would you give it a try?
