Hello again! Jen Schow here to show you how I created a soft, pretty layout using scraps and just a few embellishments from the Whimsical collection.
I started by punching a bunch of patterns from scraps of several Pink Paislee collections with my neglected rectangle punch. I think choosing single-color patterns helps things feel calm and less chaotic. I added some light color to the background in coordinating colors in rainbow order and added my rectangles in a grid pattern.
I kept the embellishments minimal and punched hearts from the same patterns to get a true tone-on-tone effect. I also added clouds in coordinating colors. Clouds feel like such an “airy” embellishment, so I felt like they really worked here.
I even added my title tone-on-tone and I still LOVE those small Thickers for longer titles.
I also stitched across the center of each row of color and stitched several times around the entire area to add texture. Because I wanted to keep things very minimal, things like stitching and popping things up on foam really make a big difference.
If you want to see how it all came together, you can watch the video!
And here’s another look at the final layout.
I hope you’ll dig into your scraps and give something like this a try!
