Hello there! Enza here and today I’m sharing a new layout featuring the bright and colorful Whimsical collection. One of the things I love to do whenever I start creating a layout is try to find ways to jazz up the background, either with a cut file, or a combination of shapes, or some mixed media work. Here I did a bit of everything as I’ve used a cut file, which also features a somewhat geometrical design, and paint splatters all over the white textured cardstock.
I started by backing some of the flowers with patterned paper from the collection. I wanted to see the pink paint splatters through the cut file, so I left the majority of them as is. I love how the pink striped patterned paper I used to cut the image brings in a soft, romantic look!
At this point, after trying different placements for the cut file, I ended up settling for an off-center/off-the-page look.
I built several layers behind my photo, making sure to create a thicker frame around it to make it stand out more. This is especially useful when you’re working with a busy background, as it creates a separation by bringing in a contrasting color as well. I gave it dimension with foam tape and went to town with the embellishments. Chipboard stickers, die cuts, and sentiments all add a colorful touch to the photo.
To balance the busy right side, I added banners in the opposite corner of the page and scattered enamel dots and round chipboard stickers in between.
