Hello lovely friends! It’s Kylie with you all today and I am very excited to be sharing my first project as part of the Design Team! I’ve created a layout featuring the gorgeous new “Little Adventurer” collection. When I first saw the beautiful paper prints and adorable die cuts I knew it would be a perfect range to scrap a baby photo of either my son or daughter. I pulled a lot of the blue, grey, green, and coral tones together to create my design.
I first started with Paige’s Hot Air Balloon cut file and backed it with lots of varying papers. This gives my layout so much colour and a real element of fun. For my background paper I chose Paper 12 and added a small strip of Paper 07 for some extra colour to the left side.
Using a cloud cut file of mine I added some contrasting blue, simple back stitch around the edges. I like to pre-punch my stitching holes first to ensure I get them nice and neat as well as evenly spaced. Not only does this give them a lovely texture but it helps them to really stand out on my background paper. When adhering the clouds and balloon to my background page I used foam squares so they stood out with a dimensional effect.
I alternated some of the star and heart little wooden shapes at the top of my balloon for character and texture.
I used a smaller scale photo for my design and actually used two of the same print as I like the effect of stacking them together on my layouts. When I have a lot of detail going on in the page design it’s a great way to still draw the eye attention to your image without it being overshadowed. I distressed the edges of my photo and curled them a little before adding some of the ‘totally adorable’ rose gold stars. I was immediately drawn to these elements and had to use them!!
I decided to place the little teddy from the die cuts inside the balloon basket, going for a ride! For effect I also added a few extra clouds in behind my balloon and just with double sided tape so they were flat. This gave the appearance of being off in the distance.
I’m a ‘huge’ fan of Thickers and a good title so I used varying colours of the alpha stickers to my layout. Again the colours really seemed to ‘pop’.
To finish off my design I added some of the balloon die cuts amongst the clouds. They seemed to be floating off into the horizon!
I’ve also filmed a process video which showcases how my design came together!
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my layout today! Until next time!
