Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be posting my first project as a Pink Paislee Design Team member today! I created this layout to celebrate the arrival of my new nephew, Jack, using the new Little Adventurer line. Jack is the sweetest little thing and I wanted a page that would really pop to start his album!
I created a cut file using my Silhouette and some white cardstock and then backed the cut file with a selection of papers from the 6×6 paper pad. I love using 6×6 papers for backing cut files because the patterns are smaller and fit behind the smaller pieces of a cut file better, without missing too much of the pattern. This is especially important when the patterns involve letters or animals like these ones.
After I had backed my cut file title, I had to choose a background paper for the page. The papers I had backed the file with were all on the lighter side and I wanted the title to really pop off the page, so after playing around with a few options, I ended up going with Paper 10. The contrast of the darker blue really helps the title stand out on the page.
I decided to embellish the page with stars. One of my favourite ways to embellish is to use multiples of one shape and Jack really is the star of the family so it seemed appropriate, especially with the existing star theme created with the background paper I chose. Before I stuck down my title, I added a few splatters of copper ink to tone in with the copper glitter star die cuts and copper stickers I was intending to use.
Then I stuck down my title, adding some dimension by adhering the cut file with foam adhesive. This also gave me room to add wood veneer and stickers under my cut file title.
I added a few leftover pieces of the 6×6 papers behind my photo to create a mat so it would stand out from the darker background paper and embellished the photo with a few tiny phrase stickers. Then all I had left to do was scatter the wood veneer stars, die cuts, and star stickers around the page in three large clusters to create a visual triangle before adding my journalling in white gel pen.
I’m so pleased with how this layout turned out and I can’t wait to make about a million more layouts with photos of this gorgeous guy using this gorgeous line! Thank you so much for stopping by!
