Hello friends, it’s Kylie back with you today with a fun and bright layout that I have created using the divine Whimsical collection. I love creating and using flowers in my projects and found myself using a full rainbow of colour to do so for this piece!
I selected Paper 01 as my background because being a soft pink I felt it would help the brighter colours of my blooms really pop. A feature of my layout is the lovely Flower Pot cut file designed by Paige which I cut out with my Silhouette Cameo and backed it with loads of colour .
To break up the background a little I added some white and pink paint splatters. I watered down my paints fairly well to do this as I find I have more control over where the paint ends up. Once dry I adhered my flower pot to the background page with foam squares. This helps to give my completed project dimension. On the top left side I tore a small piece of the background paper out and backed it with a contrasting shade. I then added one of the words from the base strip I removed to highlight the top of my page. It’s always good to hang onto those strips you remove!
Using flower and leaf punches I cut some blooms and foliage in varying sizes and styles. I layered these together and centred them with the adhesive enamel shapes. They made perfect flower centres. I began neatly assembling them in and around my flower pot, tucking in some leaves to the gaps.
My photo was positioned over the flower pot and I added only a few blooms next to it so that it wasn’t overshadowed in any way.
I also added just a handful of small, punched flowers over the blooms in my cut file to give it texture and dimension. The Happy Life alpha stickers were so cute and a perfect addition to use for my title. By adding them to follow the flow of my cut file helped to make them blend in neatly to my layout.
I added a small typed quote I had discovered recently and felt it was perfect to complete my layout. Once finished I really love having the texture and dimension that the flowers give, just like a colourful garden on paper!
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest project today and that it inspires you a little with your own creating! Until next time!
