Hello lovely friends, it’s Kylie back with you today on the blog. I am sharing a fun little mini album I created using the beautiful Whimsical collection. Mini albums are something I really enjoy making and I actually find the process to be fairly quick. My daughter is having a birthday soon so the album I have created is of some recent photos which I wanted to keep together.
To begin with I cut the pages of my mini album from a cut file of Paige’s – the Mini Album Scalloped Edges cut file. I selected two varying shades of pink in plain cardstock so that the front pages were a lighter background to the back pages. The front page was lined with Paper 05 before I added my photo and some pom pom trim from my stash. The mini alpha Thickers are my absolute favourite and I have used them for a small title.
I love to fill every last vacant space when it comes to mini albums and I made no exception with this one.On the inside front page I printed a smaller photo and added one of the phrase swatches over the top like a lift up flap. This was easy to do by scoring a narrow edge and using double sided tape to stick it over the top.
I really love to add some journaling to my projects but sadly I’m not a fan of my handwriting. I have used my typewriter in this album and cut apart each sentence prior to adhering it to the page. This is an effect I like and a technique I use all the time. I thought it would be fun to add in a ‘currently’ themed page to the album, as it is always fun to look back on in the future. Some of the die cut flowers were added in behind my writing for an extra pop of colour.
I fussy cut out one of the tags from Paper 01 and wanted to create a little pocket on one of the album’s pages. When adhering the backing paper to the page I allowed room for the tag to sit in a pocket by adding double sided tape around it. This way the tag also slides in and out easily. Using some glossy thread I tied one of the beautiful butterfly charms to the top. Because I absolutely adore the phrase swatch book, I have added another lift up flap with photo underneath.
I’ve intermixed lots of elements from the collection: Puffy Stickers, Thickers, Die Cuts, and decorative borders just to name a few. All in neat little clusters layered over my photos. Adding different ribbons and trims also helps to add texture and a rustic appeal to my complete album. I couldn’t resist adding one of the tassel paper clips behind one of my photos too.
The rub-ons were perfect for adding a highlight of text to my photos, as too were the alpha Thickers.
Once my pages were all completed I could lay them out and see it all together. I’ve brought my album together with three album rings through the pre-cut holes but you could also use ribbon or twine. I’ve tied some off cuts of ribbon to my rings for some more colour!
I’ve also prepared a short process video which showcases how my album was created start-to-finish.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest project!
