Family Mini Album | Kylie Kingham

Hello friends! It is Kylie back with you all today with a new blog post. I’ve had fun creating a new little mini album using Paige’s beautiful new Horizon collection. Our family took a trip to Movie World here in Australia several years ago and I still have lots of photos to scrap, so I thought a mini album would be the perfect way to showcase them. The theme of the Horizon collection was perfect for embellishing my album.

I kept the template of my pages really simple at a 6 x 4 size, the same as a regular sized photo. Preparation is key when producing a mini album. By having a lot of your pages cut and ready makes the assembly quite a fast process. Using white cardstock I cut out multiple pages to size. I also cut many various papers from the Horizon collection to size as well,  only slightly smaller so I would have a border with my white cardstock. My album contains many pages so I will share just a few today, however I have filmed a short video as well which shows each page as they came together as well as a complete flip through. I used two rings to hold my album together and embellished it with a cute tassel and clay bead charm.

I like to print my photos at various sizes for throughout my album, that way I have loads of room for using embellishments to highlight each page. Using the Chipboard Thickers layered over die cuts creates a lovely dimension for the pages.

I’ve added a lot of journaling to my pages by cutting apart strips that have been typed with my typewriter. It never bothers me if I adhere them to a slight angle or uneven, in fact I think it adds to the character of the page. By layering these strips over my photo as well as a title and embellishments really helps the photo blend to the page. The pops of colour are amazing!

To add detail to my album I added some of my favourite cut files by Paige. I’ve used four different ones in my album, all resized to scale to fit the page size. I love the colourful page featuring the clouds, finished off with a title sticker.

I added some simple back stitching to this page and love the texture it gave!

I created a small pocket for this page. First I cut a top layer to my backing paper, added double sided tape to the edges, and a half punch circle to the open edge. I printed my photos the same size and added them to a tag which slides out.

Mini tags are a fun addition to an album. I just cut this smaller tag by free hand before adhering a smaller sized photo.

Some of the cut file pages I used I have run through my laminator so they have a clear background.

The 2 x 2 Paper Pad Swatch Pack was perfect to add as a mini ‘tip in’ page. I cut down a clear pocket page to fit and added some of the swatches. Some of the washi tape was added to the edge before punching a binder ring hole.

Another pocket and this time to house several photos.

As mentioned before, I have filmed a short process video and flip through of my album.

Thanks for taking a look at my mini album today, I hope you have enjoyed seeing it.
