Hello everyone! It’s Kylie with you again today and I am sharing a fresh new layout I have completed featuring the Horizon collection. The inspiration for my layout came about thanks to two different elements – Paper 11 and wanting to use multiple sized photos. I love the colour combination of Paper 11 as well as the stripes so thought something geometrical in my background would be fun. The overlay of the flower die cuts added so much colour, I decided to use a white background so they really stood out.
Whilst it may look like I have overlapped layers of paper cut in triangles, I actually used an easy technique so I didn’t use a lot of my paper. With exception of the top layer, I actually cut several L-shaped corners from my papers approximately 3cm wide with my craft knife and ruler. Once I layered each ‘L’ it looked like far more paper was used. Can you spot the Pink Glitter paper?? This was from the new Horizon Project Pad and I love it so much for adding a little sparkle.
I adhered each paper layer together and I was a little fussy, making sure I lined up each coloured stripe of Paper 11 for each layer, so it was perfectly neat. Once in place I used my sewing machine to run some stitching through each navy strip.
I worked with three different sized photos all capturing a precious memory I wanted preserved. These were all adhered with foam squares so that they sat up from the background. It was at this point I brought in the floral die cuts. Lots and lots of floral die cuts. They were all layered neatly around each image, some flat some with foam tape for a 3D appearance.
A helpful tip is to make sure you take a step back from your layout and view it from a short distance. This helps to make sure you keep a lovely balance to all those layers.
The chipboard stickers are also a favourite and I have finished off my layout by adding the ‘Happy’ title as well as a few other feature stickers.
Thanks for taking a look at my latest layout today!
