Hello everyone! It’s Kylie back with you on the blog today and I am sharing another layout I completed recently featuring the Horizon collection. My daughter celebrated her birthday recently and I wanted to create a fun, bright, and happy party-themed design. When I first saw Paige’s Llama cut file in her Happy Scrappy Place Facebook group I instantly fell in love with it and was able to bring my layout together, centred around it. A little fiesta on paper!
I selected Paper 02 as my background, because well… PINK! I’m such a pink fan. I also wanted to create a border for balance across the top of my page and did so by adding a strip of Paper 16 as well as Paige’s Lace Border cut file.
It took some time but I created some paper rosettes from different coloured and patterned papers. Each 12″ long strip was cut around 1 1/4 inch wide, scored at 1/4 inch intervals before folding them in a zig zag manner. The ends were hot glued together to form a circle and then pressed down onto a punched 1 inch paper circle with hot glue, forming a perfect paper rosette. I layered them neatly over the top of each other with some being cut in half so my page wouldn’t become too bulky. The ‘XOXO’ banner I cut down from Paige’s cut file and added it over the top of the cluster. For balance, floral die cuts were tucked underneath.
I kept the background of the cute Llama white adding bursts of colour to it here and there. It was adhered to my background paper with foam tape so it had some dimension against the banners.
The little white alpha Thickers are from Paige’s Pick-Me-Up collection and I thought they were a perfect match for my layout with adding a fun title. Some watercolour splatters were added to complete my layout.
Thanks for dropping by today! I hope you have enjoyed seeing my newest layout.
