Whimsical Cards | Kylie Kingham

Hello sweet friends! It’s Kylie with you all on the blog today and I am sharing with you a set of cards I have created with the fun Whimsical collection. I have kept to the same sketch design for both of my cards but have made them in two different sizes. They were quite fast and super fun to make!

I’ve used the Whimsical patterned swatch pad for the cute little squares in my background, mixing some of my most favourite colours and prints. Each of them were run through my sewing machine giving them a stitched edge border. I like the effect of having my stitches uneven and with trails of cotton left. It adds a nice character to my finished card and gives it that handmade appeal.

To add each square to my card I used some small foam tape adhesive squares. This helped give them dimension and not have the effect of blending into the background of my card.

When adding die cuts to my card such as the hearts and the butterfly, I have folded them in half first before gluing them into place. I have only added a small dob of glue through the centre of the die cut rather than adhering flat.

I’ve combined stickers, chipboard stickers, and die cuts layered over each square. For many of them I have again used foam adhesive squares to stick them into place. It builds some lovely layers and adds a lot of interest.

I was really happy with how my little cards turned out. The swatch pads make card making super easy and fun!

These cards are so bright and happy, such a fun mix of patterns and images.
