A Very Special Nana Layout | Diane Williams

Would you believe me if I told you I created this layout mostly in front of the television watching my favorite shows, using just the Horizon Project Pad from JoAnn Stores? Because it’s true!

I knew I wanted to use this gorgeous navy floral paper so I chose one of the coordinating cardstocks from the Project Pad to go with it. I mixed some Impasto gel with a gold pigment powder and then used a stencil and my palette knife to apply the gold gel to my cardstock. After letting it dry, I added some watered down white acrylic paint to highlight the pattern and add some splatters.

Once all that mixed media was completely dry, I could let the couch crafting begin! I folded a portion of the bottom of my cardstock over so the white back was showing and then stitched all the way around the flap it created. I only added glue to the bottom of my cardstock before glueing it onto the patterned paper so I could cut the remaining piece off. This gave me a full 12 x 12 layout and I still had a sizeable piece of patterned paper to start fussy cutting.

I made sure to fussy cut flowers from the patterned paper that would match some of the flowers that were partially covered by my cardstock. Once they were all cut out, I grabbed my hot glue gun and added them around my page and photos. The hot glue gives them a nice touch of dimension without having to fuss around with foam.

I added my journalling to one of the cut-aparts from a second patterned paper from the pad and then tucked it under the flap and added some more flowers. Then all I had to do was add my title using the AMAZING copper foiled alphas included in the Project Pad.

The Project Pad has everything you need to make beautiful layouts, in one place! It made it so easy to get this layout done, all from the comfort of my couch!
