Hello friends! It’s Kylie back with you today and I’m sharing a brand new layout I have been working on. I instantly fell in love with one of Paige’s cut files, the Flower Frame cut file and I knew straight away I wanted to use her new Truly Grateful collection. The circle that features in the centre of the cut file was an area where I wanted to incorporate my photo and I was able to bring loads of color into my design thanks to the gorgeous array of papers and die cuts.
It took me a while to finally choose a background paper and I actually went ahead and backed my frame first before selecting my page. In the end I really loved Paper 10 to which I added some white gesso with a palette knife just to soften it a little. You will see I haven’t taken it right to the edges. I also added some small tears to the top and bottom edge and added a strip of Paper 19 behind it.
Once the gesso was dry completely, I adhered my cut file to the page using double sided tape. Around the edges where the finer detailed leaves are I went around and adhered some down with my fine tip glue bottle. Some of them I actually left as I thought it was a nice effect to have some lifted up from the page.
I saved the inner circle when my cut file was cut out from the white cardstock to use as a template for cutting my photo out. I very carefully traced around it first prior to cutting and I then distressed the edges a little. For some extra texture and detail, I then machine stitched around the edge of my photo before adhering in the centre with foam tape. I really wanted my photo to sit up higher than the background so I could tuck some extra die cuts etc. underneath. It also helps to draw your eye to the photo when it sits higher.
One of my most favorite items in this collection would be the word stickers. I added four different words around my photo using the outer edge as a guide for placement. Then I began adding lots of floral die cuts in and around my photo.I used foam tape on some so that they sat up with dimension. I also fussy cut some butterflies and some leaves from Paper 05.
Once completed I love all the layers that feature around my photo, yet the background isn’t lost with its beautiful rainbow of color.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest layout and it inspires you a little with your next project!
