Right Now Layout | Diane Williams

When I decided to scrap this selfie, for no other reason than it is a rare occurrence in my world for me to be wearing bright pink lipstick, I decided that pink was going to have to play a major role in the layout. And because my photo had such a pink, rosy tone to it, I decided to embrace the pinkness completely and create a monochrome pink layout.

So I started with a pink cardstock background and used rose gold foil, my Foil Quill, and the Cut and Bend Flower Background from Paige Evans to create a sparkly, pink background. I love the shimmer and shine that the foil adds to the background, as well as creating a subtle texture that lets your photos and embellishments shine.

I wanted to stick with that pink floral theme so I created a few layered flowers by using the Layered Flower cut file and Papers 01, 11, and 12 from the Truly Grateful collection. I adhered all the layers of the flowers together using hot glue to add depth and dimension. Then I scrunched and curled up the petals to add even more texture.

After placing my photo onto my layout, using craft foam for a bit of dimension, I glued my three layered flowers around two corners of it. Then I decided I needed to add even more pink florals.

So I grabbed my Pixscan mat and Paper 15 and used my Silhouette to cut out all the tiny flowers. It took a little bit of time to set up but I think it probably saved me hours of fussy cutting! The cutting isn’t perfect, there are little white lines around some of the flowers, but it actually helps them to stand out from the very pink background.

Once all my little florals were cut, I began tucking and placing them in and around my photo and layered flowers. Once I was happy with their placement, I adhered them all with a little wet glue.

I created my title in the gap to the left of my photo by combining some of the puffy phrase and word stickers. Using a t-square ruler helped me to make sure that they were straight and even. The last step was to add a sprinkling of pink sequins from the collection across the page.

Sometimes you just have to embrace your girliness and a pink, floral layout is the perfect way to do it! The colours and patterns in the Truly Grateful collection are so perfect, you really could create the same monochrome styled layout in any color you choose!
