Hey scrappy friends, I hope you’re all well. I’m back with a new layout. I used Paige’s new collection Truly Grateful and I reeeeaaally love how it turned out! I hope you like it too!
When I got the collection, the patterned paper with all the trees immediately caught my eye. I knew that I wanted to cut the trees out and to make something with them. After a while, I had the idea to make a big tree, using the small trees without the trunk, so that they’d look like leaves.
Since all the colors of the rainbow are represented in that patterned paper, I thought to make a gradient from pink/red to blue/purple. I imagine that mixing all the colors would’ve had a great effect too.
So to start, I cut out all the trees/leaves. Then I gathered them in different groups according to their colors. I traced a big circle on a white cardstock sheet and then started adhering all the leaves, starting at the top and making my way to the bottom. When I was done, I was amazed by the result… it just looked so cool and fun and magical!
For the trunk, I used a dark blue patterned paper and I traced some white details on it. For my picture I used a photo I had made a month before, when I was staying at a hotel in San Gimignano, Italy. They had these hay bales outside and I always wanted to take a picture on one of those. I matted it on the same patterned paper I used later, to make a frame for my layout. It’s one of my favorite patterned papers. It’s a bit like a Tartan (Scottish) pattern with the prettiest colors.
Then I went through all of my stuff to choose embellishments and a title. For the title, I went with an ephemera piece, saying ‘Hello’. I added the word ‘sunshine’ that was included in the mini alpha puffy stickers.
To decorate my page, I used puffy bird and star stickers and floral ephemera pieces. When I was done decorating, I added some gold splatters and a scribbly line around the layout. This page didn’t need a lot more because the tree was colorful and eye-catching enough.
