Hi friends, it’s Lisa and today I’m sharing my new layout with you.
The wonderful Truly Grateful collection by Paige Evans has this very adorable patterned paper that has hexagons on it in different tones of pink, yellow, and coral. On the hexagons there are some super cute elements like animals, suns, and patterns. I just love it!
To start, I cut apart all the hexagons and sorted them by color. Then I went through my gelatos and crayons and chose the ones I needed to recreate the same colors as the ones of the hexagons.
For my background, I chose a light pink paper from the collection. I started by dropping some gesso on the page and painting four big, irregular stripes. They would be my base for the colors. Then I mixed my colors to have a mustardy yellow, a light and darker coral, and a bright pink. On top of the white stripes, I drew colored ones and then splattered some more of the color on top.
When everything was dry, I started placing my hexagons. I wanted to lay them in a diagonal manner, going from the top left to the bottom right. When everything was as I liked it, I went through all my embellishments and chose everything that would be a good addition.
I used puffy stickers, fussy-cut pieces, and ephemera pieces. I thought the cute and fairytale-like colors and embellishments would be a perfect base for a picture I took at Isola Madre in Italy. We sat in a pretty garden and the house in the background looked so cool. I loved that place I matted my photo on some vellum and placed it on the layout.
I wanted my title to match the color behind it, so I could’t really use the Thickers from the collection, since they’re all different colors. I took a piece of coral patterned paper, hand-cut out the word ‘garden’ and adhered it to some white paper. As always, I cut out the word, leaving a white border, to make it stand out more. I added the word ‘pretty’, with the mini foam Thickers from the Pick-Me-Up collection.
I hope you had fun reading through the process and are inspired to use this pretty patterned paper too!
